Contactless card-based automated fare collection (AFC) is the traditional way for PTOs to reduce costs and improve profitability of revenue management. Now they are also under pressure to offer new mobile and Internet-driven transport payments and information services demanded by customers. But, the flexibility to quickly and easily offer new services is not typically a feature of legacy transport ticketing infrastructures. This session explores how mobile ticketing, cloud-based ticketing and ticketing-as-a-service can provide new ways to deliver the lower costs and simple operations which many PTOs require, while also enabling the innovative transport payments and passenger services required by customers today.
